Finance
The fiscal year for the Parish Council runs from April 1st to March 31st, during which it is responsible for the proper allocation of funds raised through the precept (local taxation). The precept is collected on behalf of the Parish Council by North Yorkshire Council, and is paid to the Parish Council twice yearly. The Parish Council approves a Budget for the fiscal year and maintains Reserve funds.
The Council adheres to a set of Financial Regulations and carries a comprehensive insurance policy to protect the interests of the Council and the community. The adequacy of insurance is reviewed annually.
Financial Records
As a smaller authority, the Council is required to publish expenditures in excess of £100, and to file an Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR). The Councils financial records are audited, by an independent auditor, on a yearly basis. The Council publishes financial records for the current fiscal year, plus the three preceding fiscal years.
